Flexible Fox’s forest plan says, “I hope to see a migrating bird.” Migrating means that the birds are flying south because it is cold up here in Vermont.
We are almost up to the forest. There is water in the stream, because it was raining yesterday. We heard the rushing water with our ears.
Ms. Thomas forgot to bring the morning message out, so we had to remember it. We were so fast! It said, “It is Thoreau Thursday. Sam is first. Addison is the caboose.”
Brainy Bobcat was relaxing on his sit spot. He was pretending he was hibernating like bears. Today is was both rainy and sunny simultaneously.
This is Brave Barred Owl at his sit spot.
Today Trustworthy Tree Frog, Sincere Salamander, Balanced Blue Jay, Trusting Turtle, Flexible Fox, Brainy Bobcat, Courageous Coyote, Dependable Deer, and Chipper Chipmunk were building shelters for the animals so they won’t get wet or snowed on. One of the shelters in this picture is for wood, and the other one is for animals. We built it for skunks, snakes, and bears that hibernate.
Logical leopard frog was adding a stick to our shelter for bear or snake.
Reliable Red Squirrel and Bright Blue Bird were carrying the bird seed up to the forest to feed the birds.
At Ms. Teachout’s station, we were sitting on the bridge and looking at interesting things like houses, dams, logs, and moss with binoculars. Chipper Chipmunk saw moss and wondered why it was growing in some places but not others.
Helpful Hare and others were climbing the rock so that they could tell Ms. T what they saw up on the mountain. Reliable Red Squirrel noticed that the forest was brighter at the top and darker at the bottom. Ready Raccoon noticed big trees that had roots sticking out. He wondered if a big wind had blown it down. Trusting Turtle wondered if it would be hard or easy to climb the mountain. It was easy!
